Skype for Business - for employees

Skype for Business is an employee interaction tool that allows you to have audio and video conversations, share screen and applications, send and receive instant messaging, and conduct electronic meetings. You can also make and receive phone calls if this is activated (replacing telephony).

Range of use #

Skype for Business allows employees, groups and collaborators to work closer together, regardless of where one is located. Use Skype for Business to:

  • converse, share sound and video
  • share screenshots, applications, and other files
  • send and receive instant messaging (chat)
  • show your presence and/or status information
  • conduct electronic meetings
  • call and receive phone calls (if SfB is set up as a phone)

The service is available to all users at NTNU, and for all external partners using Skype for Business.

Help and training #

Equipment for use with Skype for Business #

All equipment used for Skype for Business, both for personal use and in meeting rooms, should be certified ("Certified for Skype for Business"). Certified equipment has been tested and optimized for the best possible user experience. On the pages below you will find information about which equipment is preferred at NTNU, as well as a selection of recommended alternatives.
