Getting started #

How do I access Blackboard? #

Log on to Blackboard using your Feide username and password.

  1. Log-on to Blackboard from Innsida, NTNU's intranet
  2. Click the Grid-icon (1) in the upper left corner on your homepage on Innsida
  3. Click the Blackboard tile (2) in the meny that appears:

I can't log into Blackboard, what is wrong? #

Some user experience errors while trying to log in to Blackboard. In many instances the problem can be resolved by  Refreshing Browser Cache. If you still can't log in, you should contact the oracle service for help. 

I forgot my password. How can I reset it? #

If you have forgotten your Feide-password you can reset it. Note that it may take up to two hours for the password to work with all systems.

Courses in Blackboard #

I can't find my courses in Blackboard #

In order to be added to your course's Blackboard page, you must be registered to take the course and your semester fees must be paid. After you register to follow the course, you should get access to the course in Blackboard within 24 hours.

Please note: course lecturers or administrators can not add students to their courses manually. If you need help, please contact the oracle service

My list of courses is incorrect. What to do? #

When you have completed your registration and paid the semester fee you will gain access to your courses. Course enrollment is autmatically assigned in Blackboard. Read more about semester fee and registration. Contact Student services if  you still can't access your courses.

It is possible to hide courses from the My Courses module view, it is however not possible to unenroll or delete courses.
Select the gear icon at the top right. Set your own visibility preferences in the window that appears and press Submit.

How can I add or drop a course? #

Course enrollment in Blackboard are updated automatically by information from Studentweb. If you want to drop or add courses you must register the changes through Studentweb. If you need more help concerning this issue contact Student services which can help you with specific enrollment issues. Course enrollments in Blackboard are handled automatically.

Assignments in Blackboard #

Where can I find my assignment? #

Your instructor controls the date when assignments become available. You will see upcoming tasks in the Landing Page in each course and in the Blackboard app for students. Some assignments may have adaptive release, which means you have to fulfill one or more criteria to be eligible for the assignment. Read more about Adaptive Release Content. Contact your instructor if you need additional help.

How do I submit an assignment? #

When you submit an assignment successfully, the Review Submission History page appears with information about your submitted assignment and a success message with a confirmation number. You can copy and save this number as proof of your submission.
For assignments with multiple attempts, you receive a different number for each submission. Learn more about Submitting assignments

My assignment was not delivered. What to do? #

Contact your instructor.

How can I edit or re-submit an assignment? #

You can't edit a submitted assignment, but you may be allowed to resubmit it if the assignment was set up with more than one try. Contact your instructor if you have problems. Learn more about assignments in Submit assignments and tests.

What is the difference between Individual and Group assignments? #

Your instructor define wheter assignments should be individual or a group submission. Group assignments are similar to individual assignments, the only difference is that one member of the group submits on behalf of the group. 

Where can I find information about Exams? #

Blackboard is not an exam tool, unless this is specifically described in the course description. You will find information about your exams in Studentweb.

My grades in Blackboard #

How will I know my assignment har been graded? #

Your instructor must grade each assignment and post the grade and feedback. In the Original Course View, the My Grades page displays all your grades. If you submitted your assignment, but it's not graded, you'll see an exclamation mark next to the assignment's title. Learn more about gradings in Blackboard - My grades.

Where can I find my graded assignments? #

You will find your graded assignments in the Blackboard app for students or in My Grades in the Course Front Page. Contact your instructor if the course template has been customised and the Course Front Page doesn't exist. Learn more about My grades.

Groups and organizations in Blackboard #

Where can I find my Groups? #

Instructors can create groups of students within courses. Groups usually consist of a small number of students for study groups or projects. These groups have their own collaboration areas in the course so that they can communicate and share files. You will find a link to your groups on the Course front page.

How do I sign-up for Groups? #

Your instructor will decide whether to set up predefined or self-enroll groups. You will be notified with a link to sign up for self-enrolled groups. Read more about Group enrollment

How do I sign up for Organizations? #

Organizations can be predefined or self-enroll. You will get a link to sign up in self-enroll organizations. Note that organizations are mostly used for studyprograms to share informastion across a set of courses in a program. Contact Student services if you are part of a studyprogram and lack access to an organization.

Blackboard app for students #

How do I access the Blackboard app? #

The Blackboard app offers students a way to view and interact with courses, instructors, classmates, and content with emphasis placed on their immediate needs. Learn more about the Blackboard app on NTNU - Innsida, or learn more and find links to download to your Device at the Blackboard official helpsite.

Blackboard Collaborate #

Where can I find the collaborate sessions? #

You will receive a link from your instructor for upcoming Collaborate Sessions. Blackboard Collaborate allows you to participate in real-time lessons and discussions. Virtual classroom includes a whiteboard, chat panel, web browser, course map, and a question-and-answer area.
