If you have education from higher education institutions abroad or in Norway, you may apply for credit transfer to NTNU. Here you will find information on how to apply. You can also use this application form to implement courses from NTNU in your degree.

What can you apply for?

You can apply for an approval of courses you have already completed, or plan to complete in near future. The approved courses can be included in a NTNU degree. Please note that you must complete at least 60 credits of your degree at NTNU in order to receive a diploma. The guidelines regarding credit transfer may vary, see Supplementary Regulations to the Academic Regulations at NTNU.

You can apply for:

• exchange studies abroad, see separate page
• approval of education you plan to take at another educational institution in Norway or NTNU
• approval of education you have already completed at an institution other than NTNU (both abroad or in Norway)

When do you apply?

Apply in advance, preferably 1-2 months before you need an answer to the application.

When can you expect a decision?

You will normally receive a decision within one month, but the prose (admission and semester start), it may take 4-8 weeks. You will receive a decision by postal mail. Students who have created a digital mailbox, will receive the answer digitally.

What happens after the application is approved?

Your education plan will be updated in Studentweb if the application is approved. If you have completed courses from abroad, State Education Loan Fund (Lånekassen) will be notified through regular reports from NTNU's databases.
