Apply for approval of education
You can apply to use your education recieved from other educational institutions in your degree at NTNU. Here you will find information on how to apply. You can also use this application form in order to implement NTNU-internal courses in your degree.

What can you apply for? #
You can apply for an approval of courses you have already completed, or plan to complete in near future. The approved courses can be included in a NTNU degree. Please note that you must complete at least 60 credits of your degree at NTNU in order to receive a diploma. The guidelines regarding number of credits may vary, see the Supplementary Regulations (only in Norwegian) to the Academic Regulations for NTNU (pdf).
You can apply for:
- approval of education you plan to take abroad (exchange): See separate page on how to apply for pre-approved part-time studies abroad
- approval of education you plan to take at another Norwegian educational institution or internally at NTNU
- approval of education you have already taken at an institution other than NTNU (applies to both Norwegian and foreign education)
How do you apply? #
When do you apply? #
Apply in advance, preferably 1-2 months before you need an answer to the application.
When can you expect a decition? #
You will normally receive a decition within four weeks, but during periods of high demand (admission and semester start), it may take 4-8 weeks. You will receive a decision by postal mail. Students who have created a digital mailbox, will receive the answer digitally.
What happens after the application is approved? #
If the application is approved, your education plan will be updated in Studentweb. If you have taken courses abroad, State Education Loan Fund (Lånekassen) will be notified of this through regular reports from NTNU's databases.
