<ul><li>Doing small exercises relevant to each lecture helped us learn, e.g. Rocchio assignment </li><li>Since we were a small class, professor was able to follow up each student more closely and it was easier to have discussions in class </li><li>Having a major project helped us learn more than we would from theory only </li></ul> Most of the topics was learned successfully during the lectures and based on the performance during the oral exam and follow up of students during the class and based on the delivery of smaller exercises by students and the questions received from them. <ul><li>Since we spent time on fundamental topics early in the semester, there was perhaps too little time left for topics such as video and audio indexing and retrieval toward the end. We went through these quickly yet were asked about them in the oral exam. </li></ul> We make sure that these topics will be covered in a lengthier time slot for the coming years.

<ul><li>Evaluation methods and the weighting of them changed over the course of the semester. (Initially we planned a written exam, but ended up with an oral exam weighing 20% and a project at 40%) The weighting was settled quite late, after we had been working on the project for weeks. </li></ul> Unfortunately the evaluation form due to pandemics had to change. The required adjustments are done in the current versions of the course descriptions.
