The course reintroduced combining NTNU and NHH students in groups. The last time the course ran, this was not the case and students wished to be set together.

We conducted a two-part survey, at the beginning and end of the course to check on if students were achieving the learning outcomes for the course. Even with a small sample size (n = 14), the results show that students believe their skills significantly increased for the several parts of the learning outcomes, including: <ul><li>I can estimate the net present value of an investment </li><li>I have the skills to evaluate the financial standing of a company</li><li>I know how to analyze the macro-economic situation of a country</li><li>I can develop an effective brand positioning for new product/service concepts</li><li>I know how to analyze and improve the way companies are organized</li><li>I can develop good plans for the launch of new innovations</li></ul> According to a discussion in a meeting with NTNU students in the course, our NTNU students like being mixed with NHH students, but felt outnumbered. This was because typical groups had 4 NHH students and 1 NTNU student. Our NTNU students would like to be at least two in group to balance a bit better. Otherwise, students are quite clear that they like this course and that it is very good at meeting work-life relevance. In previous versions of the course, we had businesses from Innovation Norway, but now we need to find businesses ourselves. We partnered with ÅKP to do this, which proved to be a good experience. ÅKP has several in-house companies in the start-up/scale-up phase that are focused on technology innovations.

Very few respondents last tine and they were only positive. There were no actions stated to follow up on.

This course is run in partnership with NHH. While this was very successful last year, we had issues this year that NTNU and NHH students were not mixed together in groups. This was mainly due to Corona virus issues and should not be the case the next time we run the course. Otherwise, direct discussions with the total class (10 students) should that they felt the course was very relevant for their future careers and the enjoyed the challenge of working with and providing recommendations to actual companies.

This was the first time we this course has been held at NTNU (it is done in partnership with NHH). A student survey was sent to students, but only 2 students responded. These students were very satisfied with the course and gave high marks in all areas (from 4-5 out of 5 on all questions). This course is very relevant for getting students exposed to and working with real businesses.

KNOWLEDGE: students...- can make sense of tech innovations.- have thorough knowledge of extant techniques for developing product/service concepts from innovations.- can apply knowledge to position product/service concepts.- have knowledge on models for commercialization planning.SKILLS: students...can critically analyze relevant academic and professional problems related to - commercializing innovations.- are able to communicate extensive independent work and terminology regarding innovation commercialization.- can conduct research to analyze and make sense of real technological innovations.- able to use design thinking techniques for the purpose of turning real technological innovations into profitable product/service concepts.- can develop an effective brand positioning strategy for product/service concepts.- can estimate market potential for selected product concepts under conditions of high uncertainty.GENERAL COMPETENCE: students...- are able to present commercialization plans to a corporate audience in a professional manner.- can identify and solve potential problems related to work in cross-disciplinary groups (members with technical and business background).

The course is a partnership with NHH in which we combine NTNU and NHH students in groups to work on defining the commercialization potential for actual business innovations. Students work directly with the companies under supervision.
