The library has an assortment of reading rooms you can use. We have study spaces with and without PCs. Most of the study spaces have power outlets.

Architecture and Civil Engineering Library #

Study spaces

There are 116 study spaces, located in reading rooms and group rooms.

The library has two reading rooms, one with universal design.

Group rooms

The library has three group rooms on the second floor (UK) / third floor (US). Accessible through the library.

Dora Library #

Study spaces

The Dora Library is located in Arkivsenteret. There are 60 study spaces located in three rooms.

Rules for room use

  • The largest room is meant for group work where small and large groups can work together. Talking is allowed.
  • Talking is not allowed in the smaller room.
  • The third room has been equipped as a genealogy workshop by DIS-Sør-Trøndelag, an association for genealogical research using information technology as a tool. The room also contains the DIS’ book collection. On Tuesdays, DIS members are available to help you explore Norwegian ancestry and heritage.

All study spaces have power outlets, network cable outlets and wireless access for your laptop. You can borrow a network cable at the help desk.

Work stations for researchers

The library also has work stations for researchers in a separate room. The room is locked, you can pick up the key at the help desk.

Dragvoll Library #

Study spaces

There are 400 study spaces in the library. Most of them have power outlets. Map of the library

Group rooms and study cells

The library has 14 group rooms and four study cells. The group rooms have space for six people. Most of the group rooms are equipped with whiteboards. The study cells have space for two people. The rooms can be booked for two hours at a time during the library’s opening hours.

Study spaces

There are 50 study spaces in the library.

Group rooms

There are no group rooms in the library. A meeting room is available for booking, for staff only.

Fine Art Library #

Study spaces

The library has five ordinary study spaces and five study spaces with PC / Mac.

Group rooms

There are two group work spaces in the library. There is also one group room (ROM613) with space for 10-14 people. The room is equipped with a mobile projector and a blackboard.

Gjøvik Library #

Study spaces

There are 42 study spaces in the library.

There are individual study spaces and places to collaborate, both in the library and in the M-building, which also has a quiet reading room.

Group rooms

The library has 6 group rooms. You can find more group rooms by the atrium in the A-building with transit from the library via the M-building.

Some of the group rooms has a big screen, others a whiteboard.

The Gunnerus Library #

Study spaces

The reading room on the third floor (UK) / second floor (US) has 76 study spaces and is open to the public. There are also eight study spaces on the ground floor / first floor.

Personal work station

Master’s degree students at NTNU can book an allocated study space at the Gunnerus Library. To arrange an allocated study space, contact the help desk.

Group rooms

There is one group room and one classroom on the ground floor (UK) / first floor (US) and four on the first floor / second floor. These can be booked by groups of at least 2 persons for three hours per day. When capacity allows it, external users can use the group rooms.

Work stations for researchers

The library has a separate office for researchers on the ground floor (UK) / first floor (US). You can book this office for one week at a time. Contact the help desk for a booking form or send an email to book the office. The office has an adjustable desk.

The Lysholm Library #

There are 350 study spaces, located in reading rooms and group rooms.

Marine Technology Library #

Study spaces

There are 64 study spaces in the library. These are located in our reading halls and group rooms. The library also has two reading halls that are open around the clock.

The library has one group room (A2.022) with space for six people. The room is inside the library.

Medicine and Health Library #

Study spaces

There are 300 study spaces in the library. See also this overview of student work spaces available at Øya campus, administered by the Faculty of Medicine.

Group rooms

There are 12 group rooms in the library on the first floor (UK) / second floor (US) in the Knowledge Center. There are seven group rooms with space for 12 people, equipped with a PC and a projector. There are five group rooms with space for six people, equipped with a projector.

When the library is closed, five of the large group rooms are available from the corridor. You need a hospital access card with PIN to gain access.

Rules for room use

  • The rooms are meant for groups, at least two people.
  • Reserver for max 4 hours at a time, in order to allow other groups to use the room.
  • Group rooms with double doors can be used after the library’s opening hours. The rooms are closed for cleaning between 7:00 and 8:30.
  • During opening hours the doors to the group rooms are open from the library area. After opening hours, the door to the library is locked and the door into the corridor is open. You need a hospital access card with PIN to gain access.
  • Remember that all books you want to use in the group rooms after opening hours must be borrowed.

Music Library #

Study spaces

The library has a quiet reading room with six study spaces. We also have a sofa corner in the public section of the library.

Group room

The library has one group room with space for five to six people and a group/class room with space for ten people. The rooms are on the second floor (UK) / third floor (US). Our Diva room (large group room) has a TV, DVD player and an available PC that can be booked at our help desk.

Rules for room use

  • The Diva room can also be used by the institute’s employees and students after regular opening hours (this applies to Music Performance Studies and Music Technology. You need to have a key card for Olavskvartalet to gain access and you must book the room in advance).
  • The smaller group room can be used by the institute’s employees and students after regular opening hours (no booking required, applies to Music Performance Studies and Music Technology).
  • The other rooms and facilities can only be used during the library’s opening hours.
  • Books from the library that you want to use in the group rooms after opening hours must be borrowed.

Natural Science Library #

Study spaces

There are 400 study spaces in the library.

Group rooms and reading rooms

The library has eight group rooms and 11 reading rooms. The group rooms have space for eight to ten people, the reading rooms have space for one or two people. The rooms are on the ground floor (UK) / first floor (US) and on the basement floor, U1.

Alesund Library #

Study spaces

There are about 230 study spaces in the library. At the 2nd floor there are two reading rooms with 150 study spaces. One of them is a quiet reading room.

Group rooms

At the 1st floor there are 12 group rooms with 75 study spaces. There are also six sofas and several single study spaces in the library.
