Read email with webmail
You can use Webmail to read your NTNU email when you are outside of the university's network. Employees have a different Webmail.

Student log in #
- You use the same user name and password that you use to access NTNU-only services within the university network.
- You can access your mail from anywhere on the globe, as long as you have an Internet connection.
- Webmail can be used to read email, set up forwarding and sort email into folders.
This is the NTNU office portal, it contains alot more than just webmail.
Click the Outlook icon to proceed to your webmail.
New message #
Click +NEW at the top left corner.
Automatic replies #
Click the cogwheel and select Automatic replies.
Fill in you automatic reply, hit OK to save.
Filters / Folder structure #
Press Create new folder (next to your account name).
Enter a name for your new folder. In this example we're creating a filter for Itslearning.
Filters like this may also be made for Blackboard and other services, by replacing all fields mentioning itslearning with e.g. Blackboard.
Now that you have a folder, right click an email and select Create rule.
Choose a name for the rule.
Choose rule-parameters. The itslearning filter shown will work like this:
For incoming e-mails with "itslearning" somewhere in the subject, move the email to the itslearning folder.
Changing language #
Click the cogwheel and select Options.
Choose Region and Time zone (under the "General" tab). Select your language and press Save.
Hit the cogwheel and select Options.
Choose Forwarding and enter an e-mail.

I can't write emails #
If you have problems with Webmail, you should check the following before you contact Orakeltjenesten:
- Are cookies turned on in your browser?
- Opera: File-Preferences-Privacy-Cookies

I do not receive emails #
If you discover that someone has sent you an email but you have not received it, there may be several reasons for this problem:
- Time - Email may seem like an instantaneous service, but it isn't. The amount of time it takes for you to receive an email can depend on a number of factors. For example, if the network has to handle a lot of spam, it can take several hours for your email to arrive.
- Date - Check to see how your Inbox is organized. To see the most recent emails, you need to have your mail sorted according to Date, and not Subject or Sender (click on "Date" at the top of your email list). Check to make sure that you are on the first or last page of your inbox (look at the bottom of your Inbox and check it says Threads 1-50 of XXX)
- Spam filter - Sometimes your incoming mail may accidently be sent to your Junk folder. Check there, and if you find it, mark the source as trusted.
- Quota - There are limits on how much you can save in Webmail. To see if you have reached your limit, log in and look at the bottom left of your Inbox. There should be a small pie graph next to a Settings gear and it should say, as a percentage, how much of your 2048 MB quota you have used.
