Software information

Maple is a powerful mathematics toolbox. Symbolic math is Maple's main focus, however Maple can also be used for numeric math and is a complete engineering tool as well. A Maple worksheet contains both calculations, text and graphics.

Mathematical equations are written with standard mathematic notation, both on screen and printed out, which makes it easy to create high quality scientific documents. Maple also has the ability to export equations in Postscript and LaTeX formats.

Futher, Maple has a visualization component which allows you to show functions graphically in 2D and 3D. 3D models can quickly and easily be turned and manipulated for enhanced control. Graphics can also be animated so that you can see what happens to the form as you change parameters.

Maple has an in-built programming language which make it possible to create advanced applications. The software's own ruties are written in this language and is both examinable and modifiable.

Worksheets can be saved in HTML format for publishing on the web.

Note that you can choose to install folders which containt packages of worksheets, routines etc which users have donated. These must be installed seperately.

Maple and Matlab

Bundled with Maple is also software for integrating Maple and Matlab, using Matlabe from Maple and Maple from Matlab.

Maple toolbox for Matlab - use Maple from Matlab.

When Maple is installed on a computer where Matlab is installed, Maple Toolbox for Matlab will be installed automatically together with the normal toolboxes and will show up in Matlab. It is possible to install this toolbox seperately after Matlab and Maple are installed as well.

Maple Toolbox for Matlab contains several functions for use with Maple. Nearly every command possible in Maple can be called from matlab through a command called "maple". Maple Toolbox for Matlab is also an alternative for the Symbolic Toolbox already installed with Matlab, and Maple can use numeric calculations from Matlab as well.

Matlab package in Maple, Matlab@Link - use Matlab from Maple

This is a set of functions for running calculations in Matlab from Maple and using commands to translate Matlab-code to Maple-code.

There are several Maple-functions that can be directly used in Matlab. In addition all Matlab functions can be used through the use of the evaIM function. In Maple, choose Help and then Maple Help (or press Ctrl + F1) . Write "Matlab" in the search field. Then a guide should appear that is useful and will teach you about things such as the functions that are in Matlab.

Maple Player

The Maple Player is a free application that lets you view and even interact with Maple documents to solve problems, visualize solutions, and explore concepts when you don’t have Maple. Its primary purpose is to allow you to view documents from colleagues or to sample the vast collection of Maple documents available from Maplesoft and the Maple community.

Maple Cloud

With Maple Cloud you can share your Maple documents and applications with others, and download applications that MapleSoft has posted to everyone.The MapleCloud is accessible from a web browser,and also from Maple and Maple Player.
