How to log in to e-room
There are three ways to log in to eRoom, but only one method will work for you. If you are not sure which method will work for you, please read about the different login methods below. If you get problems, read the Problems section or contact email@example.com.
NTNU employees/students #
If you have received a mail similar to the image below then you have been granted access to an NTNU eRoom site (“SharePoint” is replaced with the name of the eRoom and the name of the person who invited you will also appear in the mail).
You will be able to access the eRoom by clicking the name of the eRoom. A web browser will open and you will be guided to a log in window that looks like the image below. Click the NTNU Login link and if you are asked to log in, enter your NTNU user name and password.
External Users #
If you are an external user, you have been granted access to an eRoom in one of two ways. Either you have been registered in a user database with the necessary information prior to being given access to the eRoom, or your email address has been added to the eRoom and you will have to create a Microsoft account before you can access the eRoom. How do I know which way I have been granted access? If you have been added to the user database, you will receive an email first that looks like this:
You will also receive a text message to your cell phone from NTNU-IT with a password. To read more about how to sign in go to the chapter called Forms Based Login.
If you only received a mail that looks like this, go to the chapter called Microsoft Login:
Forms based Login #
You will have received a Welcome mail and a text message on you cell phone (if you haven’t received the message, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org), which means that a user account has been created for you. After a while you will receive a new mail that looks like this:
When you receive this mail you will have been granted access to the eRoom. The mail states which eRoom you have been given access to and the name of the person who has given you the access. You can access the eRoom by clicking the name of the eRoom. You will be guided to a log in window that looks like this:
Click External User Login and enter the email address you received the invitation to as the user name and enter the password you received on you cell phone in the password field.

Microsoft Account Login #
So far you have only received a mail with a link to an eRoom. The mail states the name of the eRoom and the name of the person who has given you access. If you click on the eRoom name, a web browser will open and guide you to a login page that looks like this:
Click on the Microsoft Account Login link. The following web page will appear:
The next operation depends on whether you already have connected you mail address to a Microsoft account or not. If so, enter your mail address and click Next. If not, then you will have to click the link stating Create one! on the bottom of the page. A registration form will appear. Enter you first name and last name, and in the User name field enter the mail address you received the invitation to. Create an appropriate password and fill in the rest of the fields before you click Create Account (remember to remove the check in the check box if you don’t want to receive promotional emails from Microsoft). Microsoft will now send you a code by mail to verify that your mail address is correct. The verification mail looks like this:
Copy the code from the mail and paste it into the web page that looks like this:
Click Next. You will be asked to approve sharing of necessary information with NTNU eRoom. The approval page looks like this:
Once you click Yes you will access the eRoom. Please be aware that the last operations are a first time operation. The next time you enter the eRoom you choose Microsoft Account in the login page, then enter your mail address and password in the login page that appears next and click Sign in:
I get the following error when I try to log in with External User Login://
- The user name is wrong. The user name is the e-mail address you received the invitation mail to.
- You entered a wrong password. Some letters/number can easily be misunderstood, e.g. capital ‘o’ and zero, or capital ‘i’ and small ‘L’.
- Your email isn’t registered or it is registered as a Microsoft account. Please try Microsoft Login or ask the person who invited you to the eRoom how you were added to the eRoom.
I get the following error message when I log in with Microsoft Account Login://
- The email address is spelled wrong.
- The email address is not assigned to a Microsoft account. Please click get a new one.
I get the following error message after I entered my password://
You have written your password wrong. Please try again. If you have forgotten your password, please click reset it now.
I have entered the correct email address and password. Yet I don’t get access. Why?
Your login was successful, but your user hasn’t been assigned to an eRoom or your rights to an eRoom has been withdrawn. Please contact the person who invited you.
