Every employee’s responsibility

If you find or suspect damage from damp, leaks and/or mould growth, you must immediately report it to:

Line manager’s responsibility

The line manager is responsible for informing all employees who are affected by damage from damp / water leaks / mould growth. The information should be provided to everyone at the same time and as soon as possible.

The line manager must get help from the Technical Management Section in the Campus Services Division and the Occupational Health Services to provide good information about:

  • The cause of the damage
  • The status of the damage
  • Plan for repair of the damage
  • Health hazards related to damp and mould in general
  • Assessment of health hazards related to the relevant damage
  • Health follow-up offered to all employees
  • Special measures offered to sensitive employees, if applicable

The Occupational Health Services can help with information, assessment of the damage, evaluation of health hazards and health monitoring of employees. Basic advice from the Occupational Health Services in such cases:

  • Employees with known health problems (for example asthma, allergies) that may be triggered or aggravated by exposure to damp and/or mould must be offered alternative work premises until the damage is repaired.
  • Building materials damaged by damp or mould should be removed and replaced with dry materials

Campus Services Division’s responsibility

1. Receive reports of damage due to damp / leaks / mould in the e-vaktmester online reporting system, and handle the report according to the following guidelines:

2. Assess whether the damage is so extensive that the Property Division at NTNU should be called in.

3. Contact the Property Division if considered necessary
