Agreements for Publishing Open Access

NTNU has made agreements with publishers for publishing Open Access. Some agreements give the author and/or NTNU a discount on the Article Processing Charge (APC), while other agreements cover the total APC.

If you don’t know which publisher/agreement the journal you are going to publish in belong to, please check the Norwegian register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers

This apply to all agreements:

  • Normally the person sending the article to the publisher are defined as the Corresponding Author. If you are the only author, you will automatically be defined as Corresponding Author. The Corresponding Author must be affiliated with NTNU. In many agreements authors from St. Olav hospital - Trondheim University Hospital are also included.
  • State/choose NTNU as your institution if you sign a publishing agreement. These agreements may be referred to as ‘License Agreement’, ‘publishing contract’. To avoid doubt about your affiliation, please give and use your ntnu.no email in your correspondence with the publisher. If asked, choose Open Access.
  • If you have a choice of licence NTNU is recommending the Creative Commons CC BY. This gives the best possibility for the article’s future sharing, outreach and reuse. Unless other stated under the agreement, you will retain copyright. Read more about the licences that are accepted by the Research Council of Norway.
  • Any given limitations on the amount of publications within an agreement is the total amount for all Norwegian institutions participating in the agreement.

American Chemical Society (ACS) #

Limitations/exceptionsWe can publish up to 129 articles in 2021 and up to 137 articles in 2022. Under this agreement ACS will keep Copyright of your article.

Cambridge University Press (CUP) #

Qualified articlesPeer reviewed articles where the manuscript is accepted for publication during the agreement period (Research articles, Review articles or Rapid Communications).
Licences availableCreative Commons CC BY is recommended. It is also possible to choose CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-ND or CC BY-NC-SA.

Journals includedAbout 2,350 Elsevier journals (Excel-file).
Limitations/exceptionsWe can publish up to 1,862 articles. The agreement does not cover publishing in certain journals by Elsevier or Academic Societies, in addition to Cell Press and The Lancet. Check that the Author agreement you are asked to sign do not contain elements where you give away the copyright to the publisher.
