In the previous report two ambitions were formulated:<ol><li>Turning teaching into a flipped classroom setup, due to the fitness of this course for such an approach and the low show-up of students at the lectures</li><li>Organizing guest lectures from industry to show cases from IS in practice.</li></ol>We managed (partly) to implement the first ambition. More than half of the lectures were made available as video's on BB, and physical lectures were used for Q&amp;A. Ambition 2 was not realized, although the teaching staff was extended. John Krogstie was this year available for the three lectures on modelling in IS, and the introduction to the Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN). Patrick Mikalef had a lecture on Business Analytics.

Results on both the group work and the written exam were good. Last year there was seemingly confusion about the differences between different types of information systems (Transaction Processing Systems, Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Enterprise resource Planning Systems, ...) which led to 18 complaints on the written exam, and some questions mailed to the teacher after the exam. This year that was not the case and there were only three complaints. This might be due by a chance in the lecture material, where more time was spent on the differences and similarities of the different system types. Unfortunately, I did not manage to get a referance group to deliver a report this year. Like in previous years, it was very hard to get students interested in taking the job. Request were done in the lectures, on Black Board and to individual students. In the end I managed to get one exchange student who said yes on the last lecture. But he disappeared after the semester and never answered his ntnu mail again. The last couple of years I ended up with one student (sometimes exchange students) that did not seem to have much contact with the other students. So, it can be questioned how representative the reports were. Next year I want to sent out a survey at the end of the course.

Gruppene består av 5 til 6 studenter, som skal analysere en arbeidsprosess (undervisning på NTNU) og foreslår forbedringer med hjelp av informasjonssystemer. Gruppene skal levere en rapport som oppsummerer arbeidet. Rapporten skal være maksimal 25 sider. Gruppene har mulighet til to del-leveringer før fristen, hvor de får tilbakemeldinger på de leverte delresultatene.Gjentak kan gjennomføres for enkelte delvurderinger uten at alle delvurderinger må tas opp igjen. Ved utsatt eksamen (kontinuasjonseksamen) kan skriftlig eksamen bli endret til muntlig eksamen.

There were no plans for development last year

Lecturing was done in a lecture room, with physical attendance. The lectures were recorded and put out on Black Board. As in previous years, the attendance rate was relatively low. Despite of that were both the results of the group exercise and the written exam good, indicating that the learning outcomes were achieved. The reference group report indicated also that the students were satisfied with the course. However, I would like to change the setup of the course in two ways: <ol><li>Turn it into a flipped classroom course, where most lecturing will be presented in the form of video's on Black Board. There will be three physical meetings where I will summarize the main points from the lectures and students can ask questions.</li><li>Have guest lectures (2-3) in which cases of IS use in organizations are presented.</li></ol>

Hvis en student har gjennomført øvinger men får en F eller ikke tar skriftlig eksamen, kan øvingsresultatene tas med til neste gang studenten tar emnet. Ved utsatt eksamen (kontinuasjonseksamen) kan skriftlig eksamen bli endret til muntlig eksamen.

Based on feedback in 2020 we introduced the following changes: <ol><li>Information on the course, escpecially due dates for deliveries, is nor only published on the slides of the first lecture, but in addition as a separate document on Black Board.</li><li>Start of the individual BPMN exercises is moved to course week three, and delivery deadline to course week four. This required a change in the sequence of lectures, namely that the BPMN lecture was given in week three.</li><li>The group exercise started now in week three, and even though the delivery date was set a week earlier, the students had more time to work on it. Becuase the group work was delivered earlier, the students knew what the result of their group work was before the final exam.</li></ol> From the feedback from the referance group these changes were seen as good by the students.

The course was again given as a fully digital course. After two rounds of digital teaching do I think that this course is particulary fit for (partly) digital teaching. The lectures based on the book can good be done digital, and it is convenient for the students that the video's are available on Black Board. The lectures that require more interaction (e.g. the modelling lectures and the Q&amp;A befor the final exam) are preferrably physical. The group exercise was conducted in groups of up to 6 students. In some cases we encountered problems with students not or little contributing to the work. We encouraged studentgroups to explicitely mention these problems in the report. Reported cases were taken into consideration when computing the final grade. The learning outcomes were achieved for most students, if we look at the results of the exercise part and the final exam. Students showed good insight into information system theory, application in organisational contexts of digital technologies and the use of process modelling. We used a new edition of the book (released 2021) and the description of the learning outcomes is still relevant and up to date.

Øvingene vil til dels bli gjort i grupper. Resultatet for delene angis i %-poeng, mens sensur for hele mappen (sluttkarakteren) angis med bokstavkarakter. Ved utsatt eksamen (kontinuasjonseksamen) kan skriftlig eksamen bli endret til muntlig eksamen.Dersom studenten også etter utsatt eksamen har sluttkarakteren F/ikke-bestått, må studenten gjenta hele emnet neste studieår. Arbeider som teller med i sluttkarakteren må gjentas.

This year the course had to be taught fully digital due to the pandemic. This resulted in a new design in which some lectures were given as real time video lectures, and others were recorded beforehand and put on black board. The exercise part of the course (that counts for 20% of the final grade) was less affected by the lock down of campus for teaching. The lack of direct contact with the students led to challenges in information distribution. Normally a lot of questions about practical matters were asked during the lectures, now they were posted on black boards Q&amp;A system. This was not properly followed up. The information on the sheets and given in the recorded lectures, was often not found by students that accessed material sent in the course. There were also reported issues with the sound of some of recorded lectures. Overall, I think that the quality was comparable to the physical versions of the course. An improvement now was that the lectures were available also for the students that did not attend at the reserved time slot.

The learning outcomes are updated and relevant. They are communicated to the students at the first lecture, where they are presented and discussed. Relations between learning outcomes of earlier and parallel courses have been discussed but here is room for improvement.

There are four different learning activities:<ol><li>Lectures - Most of the recorded lectures were short (approx 20 minutes) with a multiple choice test at the end.</li><li>Individual exercise - the students had to make two business process models based on two case descriptions.</li><li>Peer assessment - Each student had to assess the models made by two other students and give feedback according to a semi-structured instruction</li><li>Group exercise - students worked in groups (5-7 students) on a systems specification exercise. Deliverable was a report. </li></ol>The things learned in the lectures was put to use in the exercises.

Theoretical concepts learned from the book and the lectures were tested in the group exercise and the home exam. The process modelling skills were tested in both the individual exercises, the group exercise and the home exam. So, I think there is a good relation between learning outcomes and assessment.
