The student must have participated in a summer school on the related field of research/expertise. Admission to a PhD programme is required. Certificate from the PhD summer school must be presented.

Faglig innhold

This gives PhD students possibility to develop relevant knowledge on the subject via attending a summer school. The summer school selected should explore on topics related to the digital manufacturing and knowledge-based engineering. The responsible teacher at NTNU side may formulate additional tasks to elaborate specific topics of the summer school to help addressing a research subject of a PhD student attending the summer school. The expected amount of workload and corresponding ETC given for the topic are between 2- 5 ETC.

This was first implementation of the course. It was an interesting experience to learn how to give different amount of credit units for the same course to different students. (It is a doctoral course based on summer school attendance. It provides a flexibility to students and teachers to tailor content of the course, for example, towards of research interests of a PhD candidate.)

First 7 PhD students have successfully passed the course having 3 basic paths (and corresponding cu) throughout the course.
