I have updated the lecture notes based on the feedback from student in 2022 autumn. For example, I have added more examples and exercises in several topics; in addition, I also delete some case studies that are too complicated to the students.

Undervisnings- og læringsaktivitetene i emnet: The teaching activities including lectures and practices. In general, the lectures is given in the morning, and in the afternoon the students could conduct exercises based on what they learned. The students performed well in the activities. 	 Vurderingsformen(e) i emnet: I have set six assignments in the course to evaluate how good the students learned from class. The students could achieve desired learning outcome, but felt the workload per week is a little bit high. Therefore I consider to cut down some of the assignments. Vurdering av læringsmiljøet i emnet: It is physical teaching for this course. Therefore, I can meet the students face to face, and understand their situation through exercise and conversation. In addition, we have one teaching assistant for the course, who plays a role in assisting students in programming. It helps a lot, and the students give positive feedback on it. Vurdering av emnets faglige innhold og læringsutbytte: The course content is closely relevant to our research results, which indicates many methods are state-of-the-art. The learning outcome is reasonably set, considering the students background and capability. The exercise activity together with the teaching assistant ensure that the learning outcome can be achieved. Some items could be improved: add Python code comments to some of the case studies; and provide in-depth explanation of code programming.

Faglig innhold

Kurset er åpent for studenter som er interessert i kunstig intelligens (AI) og er villige til å bruke AI i praktiske applikasjoner. Fokus vil være på prinsipper og implementering av AI-metoder for havteknikk. Gjennom hele kurset vil studentene få kunnskap om konsept, metodikk og eksperimenter fra eksempler på virkelige prosjekter innen marint område. Læringsformer og aktiviteter

Forelesninger, øvelser og eksempler fra reelle applikasjoner vil bli gitt i løpet av kurset. Det vil være individuelle obligatoriske oppgaver og eksamensprosjekt. 75% av de obligatoriske oppgavene må godkjennes før opptak til eksamen.

<ul><li>How have the implemented development measures in the subject worked?</li></ul>	 The students are interested in the content of the course. They are satisfied with the examples, exercises, lecture notes and the teaching assistant. The course is a little difficult to some of the students who have little programming skills. <ul><li>Were there any planned changes/measures that were not carried out or could be carried out? Why not?</li></ul> Yes, there are some places that need to be improved in the course. For example, <ul><li>more exercises will be prepared; </li><li>more details in programming will be added; </li><li>separating assignments from final project; </li><li>explicit requirements for report writing.</li></ul>

From the final reports and oral exam, the expected learning outcomes have been achieved, including<ul><li>knowing the concepts of neural network, deep learning and reinforcement learning</li><li>understanding the principles of these machine learning technologies</li><li>knowing how to implement Python to solve practical problems</li></ul>
