Learning methods and activities: - Group work- Project work- Reflection- Assignments- Seminars- Supervision Based on feedback from last year, as many lectured topics as possible were prioritized, before a guest lecture from industry was provided. The course has been given in two parallel pillars: <ul><li>three projects being carried out each by a dedicated groups of 3-5 students each, throughout the semester. A dedicated product owner (IDI professor) for each project group.</li><li>7 seminars from 8. September to 1. Dec., 3 hours duration of each seminar; generally 2 (exceptionally 3) weeks between each seminar </li></ul> The project groups were established at the beginning of the course (2nd seminar), based on the students' individual votes/preferences based on the four originally proposed electable project topics (during 1st seminar). All students were affiliated with their first choice project topics, resulting in three project groups. The eventual number of the projects/groups was 3, while four topics were originally proposed.  The students have, during the seminars, been introduced to a series of topics, including: <ul><li>Agile software development – SCRUM methodology</li><li>Development tools</li><li>Agile testing</li><li>Software security and quality management; risk management</li><li>Technical writing</li></ul> The course has been project-driven and applied, meaning that the student groups have applied the seminar topics within the projects, while continuously developing a product, which at beginning each seminar 3-6, was presented in class by each group. A product owner (an IDI-professor) was affiliated with the respective projects and collaborated closely with the group assigned to the project. . At the last seminar, after a guest lecture from industry, a final project presentation was given by each group, and a retrospective of the course was made. The final result of each group was a running software product, as well as a full report on the project. First seminar gave an intro to the course, aligned expectations / feedback from the class, and gave a lecture on SCRUM. The four electable group project topics were introduced too. The second seminar was dedicated to formation of project groups, a lecture on project management/development tools, and initial feedback from the class. Each seminar no. 3-6 was a presentation of intermediate results / sprint retrospective by each one of the four project groups in plenary (in the class) with Q&amp;A / feedback, followed by a combination of lectures from one or more IDI-professors. The last seminar lecture was given by an invited industry professional. The final seminar also included the final project presentations by all the groups (with presence of most of the product owners), as well as a course retrospective. Plenary course evaluation in the class: feedback/suggestions, Q&amp;A, were included in the schedules of seminars 2, 5 and 6.  Students worked in groups (of 3-5 students) on the 3 projects proposed by lecturers who also acted as product owners. Seminars were conducted every 2-3 weeks where one or more instructors, presented lecture topics relevant to the projects. Students also presented their progress by giving demo of their product and sprint retrospective during seminars 3-7. The students have kept open dialogue with the class and the professors / course coordinator throughout the course, and were actively providing feedback during course. The class is generally satisfied with the course contents, learning environment and the infrastructure. The majority of the students performed very well. The course has, during the semester, evolved and matured in terms of the topics being addressed, as well as by emphasizing the group process dynamics and the importance of experiences and lessons learned from them. The group dynamics and the class dynamics have throughout the course developed in complementary arenas for continuous discussions on the project-relevant experiences (technical and process-relevant) as well as for reflecting on the lecture topics with fellow students, professors and the course lecturers. Feedback from the students was continuously asked for and received, both during the seminars and individually. Constructive suggestions were received and as far as possible continuously followed up. In cases when issues and uncertainties were raised, efforts were made by students/product owners/course coordinator, to resolve and clarify as smoothly and quickly as possible. The approach of the seminars driven by interactive classes, the projects being applied, were appreciated by the students. The product owners also had close interaction with their respective groups, throughout the course.   The experiences and the feedbacks from both the students and the lecturers were open, constructive, positive and very useful. Most of the students felt that the course is a balanced mix with theory and practical knowledge. They found seminars on various topics, relevant and helpful. Useful suggestions have been provided for the next course edition. We are happy about the quality of the results: software products, group reports, individual reports, the class/group learning outcomes indicated, as well as the knowledge/skills demonstrated during the examination. Each seminar was a combination of lectures from one or more IDI-professors / industry lecturers AND a presentation of intermediate results / sprint retrospective by each one of the four project groups.  The course has been project-driven and applied, meaning that the student groups have applied the seminar topics within the projects, while continuously developing a product, which at each seminar was presented by each group. The final result of each group was a running software product, as well as a full report on the project. A product owner (IDI-professor from the core group of the course contributors) was affiliated with the respective projects.  Students worked in groups (of 4-5 students) on 4 projects proposed by lecturers who also acted as product owners. Seminars were conducted every 2-3 weeks where one or more instructors / invited guest lecturers, presented topics relevant to the projects. Students also presented their progress by giving demo of their product and sprint retrospective during those seminars. At the end of the semester, students submitted group and individual project reports, which were also the basis for evaluation in addition to oral examination.  The course has, during the semester, evolved and matured in terms of the topics being addressed (starting with SCRUM, and gradually focusing more on quality and security management), as well as by emphasizing the group process dynamics and the importance of experiences and lessons learned from them.  The group dynamics and the class dynamics have throughout the course developed in complementary arenas for continuous discussions on the project-relevant experiences (technical and process-relevant) as well as for reflecting on the lecture topics with fellow students, professors and the course lecturers. Feedback from the students was continuously asked for and received, both during the seminars and from the reference group. Constructive suggestions were received and followed up. The approach of the seminars driven by interactive classes, the projects being applied, as well as emphasize on the guest lectures from the industry, were appreciated by the students. The product owners also had close interaction with their respective groups, throughout the course. Synch meetings among the product owners were also organized, in order to exchange experiences and accommodate according to the needs. Three of the product owners were also among the course lecturers, so that the synergies with the seminars were present. At the last seminar, after a guest lecture from industry, a final project presentation was given by each group, and a retrospective of the course was made.  The reference group met the course coordinator Aida Omerovic three times: at the beginning, mid and end of the course. The minutes of each meeting were made by the reference group. The final report has been made by the reference group after the final meeting.  The experiences and feedbacks from both the students and the lecturers are generally very positive. Most of the students felt that the course is a nice mix with theory and practical knowledge. They found seminars on various topics as well as the industry guest lectures, relevant and helpful. Useful suggestions have been provided for the next course edition. There was only one action item from Fall 2020 which was implemented in Fall 2021.   <ul><li>Include responsible teacher’s name in each assignment so that students can contact the person concerned for further questions.</li></ul>

There were 23 students registered for the course. Later, 1 student withdrew and finally 22 students submitted the project reports and appeared for the oral examination. Students worked in groups (of 3-5 students) on 5 projects proposed by various instructors who also acted as product owners. Seminars were conducted every two weeks where one or more instructors presented lectures related with topics relevant to the projects. Each lecture was accompanied by an assignment. Students also presented their progress by giving demo of their product and sprint retrospective during those seminars. At the end of the semester, students submitted group and individual project reports, which were also the basis for evaluation in addition to oral examination. The majority of the students performed very well in the projects. Most of the students felt that the course is a nice mix with theory and practical knowledge. They found seminars on various topics as well as assignments helpful. However, they also stressed the need to communicate the aim of each assignment more clearly and evaluation/feedback of assignments should be done quickly. The students’ feedback is mostly positive however, there is a suggestion to improve the course as given below: Changes required for next delivery of the course:1.      Additional topics for seminar – deployment2.      Specify strict deadline for assignment evaluation1.      If possible, use cloud solution of JIRA.

The majority of the students performed very well in the course. Course feedback was collected from all students at the end of semester due to limited class size.

The current learning outcomes are:Knowledge: - The students have gained knowledge in tools and methodologies used to develop "state-of-the-art" computer applications.- The students have acquired knowledge regarding importance of different quality attributes including security. Skills: - The students are capable of using "state-of-the-art" tools and methodologies in development work. - The students are capable of designing and developing software to meet a set of quality requirements.- The students are capable of planning and conducting systematic testing of software and systems. - The students can write technical reports documenting the process and the product.  General Competence: - The students have gained experience in technical writing. - The students have gained experience working in groups - The students have increased their understanding of professional practice in the field of applied computer science. Learning outcomes were communicated to the students in the first seminar at the start of the course. Regular seminars, were organized along with project work and assignments in relation to these learning outcomes. Changes have been made in the learning outcomes as well as grade (from Pass/Fail to Letter grades A - F) for the next delivery of the course in Fall 2021.

Students worked in groups on projects proposed by five instructors who also acted as product owners. Seminars were conducted every two weeks where one or more instructors presented lectures related with topics relevant to the projects in relation with learning outcomes. Each lecture was accompanied by an assignment. Students also presented their progress by giving demo of their product and sprint retrospective during those seminars. At the end of the semester, students submitted group and individual project reports, which were also the basis for evaluation in addition to oral examination. The majority of the students performed very well in the projects. Students worked as geographically distributed teams with team members in different countries and time zones due to covid-19 situation. Most of them did not get the chance to meet in person with each other and instructors. However, they managed extremely well with almost no issues with respect to teamwork and group dynamics. Most of the students felt that the course is a nice mix with theory and practical knowledge. They found seminars on various topics as well as assignments helpful. They stated that going through the seminar material helped them to think about various aspects. Assignments are useful since they served as a head start for the final report and helped them to think about different issues which they did not consider before. The students’ feedback is mostly positive however, there is a suggestion to improve the course which will be implemented in Fall 2021:Include responsible teacher’s name in each assignment so that students can contact the person concerned for further questions.

There is a strong correlation between assessment forms and learning outcomes. The course involves a group project and the assessment is based on:- A group report shared by all group members documenting the results of the work and reflecting on the group's work and contributions- An individual report written by each student documenting the student's own experiences and reflections- An individual, oral exam Project reports were written addressing various learning outcomes. Also oral exam was conducted based on the project reports addressing course learning outcomes.
