One research scientist position is offered within the area of audiology at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (http://www.iet.ntnu.no) in the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The one-year research scientist position is financed under the project SoHot.
The research will be in the field of audiology, on the topics of noise exposure measurements, audiometry and noise induced hearing loss. The SoHot project studies extremely noisy situations where a new hearing protector is used, with the ability to accurately monitor the signal at the eardrum during a workday. Methods for on-site audiometry will also be developed within the project. Combining these unique data individually gives a possibility to develop new and more accurate models for noise induced hearing loss. The research scientist will work on the understanding of noise induced hearing loss and the connection to different types of exposure data.
The research project SoHot (“Safety offshore for hearing and speech communication”) is coordinated by Statoil Hydro ASA (http://www.statoilhydro.com), and involves the partners NTNU (see above); the acoustics section of SINTEF ICT (http://www.sintef.no/acoustics); and NACRE AS (http://www.nacre.no). The project is financed by the Research council of Norway, Statoil Hydro ASA, and NACRE AS.
We seek a highly motivated individual holding a PhD degree in audiology, acoustics, or other relevant disciplines.
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Professor Peter Svensson by phone +47 73 59 05 46 or e-mail: svensson (at) iet.ntnu.no, or Adjunct Professor Odd Kr. Ø Pettersen, phone +47 73 59 26 37 or email: Odd.K.Pettersen (at) sintef.no for further information.
Applications are to be sent to the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, NO-7491 Trondheim, Norway or by e-mail to: application@ime.ntnu.no. Applications should be marked IME-046-2008.
